History of the Jasper N Keller Chapter #33

The Jasper N. Keller Chapter #33 of the TelecomPioneers is unique, in the fact, that we incorporate three (3) states-Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

The Chapter name of Jasper N Keller originated in the State of Maine in 1925.  The Chapter was named after Jasper N. Keller, the General Manager and later Vice President of the original New England Telephone and Telegraph Company. The Keller Chapter was granted Charter on 9/10/1924 at which time they had four (4) councils, four (4) Life Member Clubs, 642 active members and 314 life members for a total on 956 members.

The Vermont – New Hampshire Chapter was granted Charter on 3/16/1959 at which time they had two (2) Councils, four (4) Life Member Clubs, 657 active members and 447 Life Members for a total of 1104. And was retained when all merged in 1994.

In 1994, it was decided in order to save administrative expenses, that the Jasper N Keller Chapter and the Vermont – New Hampshire Chapter would merge.  The name of the new Chapter would remain Jasper N. Keller Chapter #33, since it had been the first to have a charter.

We had many “first” in the Keller Chapter; we were the first Chapter ever allowed into a Veterans cemetery, we have partnered each year with the First Lady of Maine and help pack and distribute 18,000 books, written by a Maine author, every kindergarten student in the State of Maine is able to have one of these books free of charge to their school, the State of NH gave the Keller Pioneers land to build a completely handicapped accessible State Park.  The Park is located in Northwood, NH.  Many hours have been put into this project; we built fishing pads, trails, bridges, and picnic tables all with the handicapped in mind.

The Jasper N Keller Chapter has a long and dedicated history of “answering the call of those in need”.
